The Mayor of Cape Coast, George Justice Arthur, joined the Ahlus Sunna Muslim community on Friday to celebrate Eid al-Fitr at Jubilee (Victoria) Park.
The gathering brought together distinguished Imams, clerics, and members of the Muslim community, as well as other residents, in a show of unity and shared celebration following the holy month of Ramadan.
Addressing the congregation, Hon. Arthur described Ramadan as a sacred period defined by discipline, sacrifice, and spiritual renewal. He noted that beyond fasting, the season provides an opportunity for reflection, character development, and a renewed sense of responsibility toward society.
He emphasized that these values are essential in strengthening unity and promoting national cohesion, particularly within diverse communities.
The Mayor further called for sustained peace in Cape Coast, urging residents to continue living in harmony and working collectively toward the development of the metropolis.
Extending warm Eid Mubarak wishes, he expressed hope that the blessings of the season would bring joy, peace, and renewed togetherness to families and communities across the city
